FAQ
Do I have to install anything else to make CodeKit work?

No. Everything you need is bundled in the app.

Which version of X is CodeKit using?

Choose CodeKit > About CodeKit from the menubar, then click the Components tab.

Does CodeKit use custom versions of any tools?

No. You're using the same tools you'd be using at the command line.

Doesn't CodeKit just run Grunt or Gulp?

No. CodeKit predates both of those tools by years. They are the Justin Bieber to my Bruce Springsteen.

What happened to CodeKit 1 and 2?

Those versions of the app have been discontinued. For more information, click here.

I'm on Windows. What do you recommend I use to work with Sass, etc?

A Mac.

Why isn't CodeKit on the Mac App Store?

The primary reason is sandboxing. About 60% of the stuff CodeKit does wouldn't work if the app were sandboxed. Apple won't allow non-sandboxed apps on their store. Next, I release updates very frequently and don't want to deal with the App Store's bureaucratic delays. Finally, Apple has $134 billion dollars and counting. I refuse to give them 30% of my income; they don't deserve it because while Apple loves their customers to death, they treat their developers like trash.
