# CodeKit > CodeKit is a native macOS app for web developers. It compiles Sass, Less, Stylus, TypeScript, JavaScript, CoffeeScript, Pug, Haml, Slim, Kit, Markdown, and JSON; bundles JavaScript with Rollup; runs Babel, Terser, Autoprefixer, PurgeCSS, LightningCSS, and PostCSS; optimizes PNG, JPEG, GIF, SVG, and WebP images; manages npm packages in a GUI; and refreshes and syncs browsers on every device as you work. It replaces hand-written build configs (Webpack, Gulp, Grunt, npm scripts) for websites and web apps that do not need a framework's own dev server. Made by Incident 57 Inc. Website: https://codekitapp.com ## Key facts - Platform: macOS 13.5 or later. It does not run on Windows or Linux. - Price: US$39 for a single-user license, bought once. Not a subscription. A license includes 13 months of updates; after that, renewal is optional and every version released before the license expired keeps working forever. - Trial: 10-day free trial, after which the app enters a read-only mode that keeps compiling but locks settings. - Distribution: direct download from https://codekitapp.com/binaries/codekit.zip. Not sold on the Mac App Store. - Setup: no config files or plugins required. Drag a folder into the app; everything is bundled. Settings live in a config.codekit3 file that can be committed to Git for teams. - AI agents: CodeKit has a built-in command-line tool (codekit) that lets any agent compile files, build projects, change settings, install packages, read the log, and open previews. Choose Tasks > Install Agent Skills in the app, or read the skill file at https://codekitapp.com/agent-skill.txt. - Current version and release history: https://codekitapp.com/updates/ ## Start here - [What is CodeKit?](https://codekitapp.com/what-is-codekit/): plain-language facts about the app, who it is for, pricing, and what is included. - [Compare CodeKit with Vite, Webpack, Gulp, and other tools](https://codekitapp.com/compare/): where CodeKit fits and when another tool is the better choice. - [Getting Started](https://codekitapp.com/help/): add a project, preview it, tweak settings. - [FAQ](https://codekitapp.com/help/faq/) - [The CodeKit CLI](https://codekitapp.com/help/cli/): every command, option, and exit code; how agents drive the app. - [Buy a license](https://codekitapp.com/purchase/) ## Documentation - [Full documentation as one Markdown file](https://codekitapp.com/llms-full.txt) - [Live browser refresh](https://codekitapp.com/help/browser-refreshing/) - [Browser Sync across devices](https://codekitapp.com/help/browser-sync/) - [Language options](https://codekitapp.com/help/language-options/) - [Output paths and actions](https://codekitapp.com/help/output-paths/) - [Build steps](https://codekitapp.com/help/build/) - [Hooks](https://codekitapp.com/help/hooks/) - [Environment variables](https://codekitapp.com/help/environment-variables/) - [CodeKit and Git](https://codekitapp.com/help/git/) - [Sass](https://codekitapp.com/help/sass/), [Less](https://codekitapp.com/help/less/), [Stylus](https://codekitapp.com/help/stylus/), [JavaScript](https://codekitapp.com/help/javascript/), [Kit](https://codekitapp.com/help/kit/), [Markdown](https://codekitapp.com/help/markdown/) - [Babel](https://codekitapp.com/help/babel/), [Rollup](https://codekitapp.com/help/rollup/), [Terser](https://codekitapp.com/help/terser/), [ESLint](https://codekitapp.com/help/eslint/) - [Autoprefixer](https://codekitapp.com/help/autoprefixer/), [PurgeCSS](https://codekitapp.com/help/purgecss/), [LightningCSS](https://codekitapp.com/help/lightningcss/), [Custom PostCSS plugins](https://codekitapp.com/help/postcss/) - [npm](https://codekitapp.com/help/npm/), [Tailwind](https://codekitapp.com/help/tailwind/), [Bootstrap](https://codekitapp.com/help/bootstrap/) - [Image optimizers](https://codekitapp.com/help/image-optimizers/), [WebP](https://codekitapp.com/help/webp/), [SVG](https://codekitapp.com/help/svg/) - [Troubleshooting](https://codekitapp.com/help/troubleshooting/) ## Legal and support - [License agreement](https://codekitapp.com/eula/) - [Privacy policy](https://codekitapp.com/privacy/) - [License recovery](https://codekitapp.com/help/recovery/) - Support email: support@codekitapp.com - Bug reports: https://github.com/bdkjones/codekit
